ELPAC

ELPAC

What is the Initial ELPAC?

The English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) is used to identify students as either English learners or fluent in English.  It is administered only once during a student's time in the California public school system, based on the results of the home language survey.  Like the Summative ELPAC, the Initial will assess in four domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.

At LMEC, the Initial ELPAC is given within the first thirty days of enrollment. The locally scored Initial ELPAC is the official score.

What is the Summative ELPAC?

The English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) is California's assessment system that is used to determine the English language proficiency of students whose primary language is not English.  The ELPAC is aligned without the state's ELD standards and assesses four domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.

At LMEC, the Summative ELPAC is given in the months of February and March.  All students who are English learners in grades K-8 take this assessment.

Currently, we are planning how this assessment will be administered.  We are working with our District's Assessment Office and following the direction of California's Department of Education.

MAP Test Practice - Practice for MAP Testing, Missouri Assessment Program

What is the purpose of the Practice Test?

The Practice Test is an opportunity to become familiar with the types of test questions on the ELPAC.  When students know more about what to expect on the test, they will be better prepared to show what they know and are able to do in English.

The Practice Test includes example test questions and directions for giving the practice to students.
