Dr. Angela Guerrero received her Bachelor’s degree in English from San Diego State
University, but did not consider teaching as a profession until, long after
graduation, she started tutoring at Beckwourth Library in Southeast San Diego. It
was there that a little boy referred to her as “teacher” and fate was sealed.
Immediately after, she knew that working with young people and their families
was her destiny. Since then, she has taught English to every level of high school
students, secondary level reading, and been a tutor of writing and literacy to
children of all ages. In 2007, Angie spent a summer teaching English at Sir
Samuel Baker School in Gulu, Uganda, where her passion for social justice and
equity was further fueled.
She was a founding teacher, then director at HTH
Chula Vista, then became Director of Emerging Multilingual Learning for HTH
Schools. Angie also teaches an Intro to English Language Development course
at the San Diego Teacher Residency, supporting new teachers in developing best
practices for rich, relevant and empowering classrooms for Emerging Multilingual
Learners.
Angie received her MEd from the High Tech High’s Graduate School of
Education, and her EdD from UCSD & CSUSM's joint doctoral program. She is
excited to return to the Logan Heights neighborhood where her education journey
started back in 2005.

Bethany is excited to be at LMEC team as the Instructional Coordinator for Inclusion. Bethany is excited to continue to develop the culture of inclusion by providing specific structure and supports for learners to thrive in her 12th year in Education.
Bethany is one part, local San Diegan, and one part San Franciscan. Prior to joining the LMEC team, Bethany worked in the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Diego as a special education teacher and administrator.. She received her Masters in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and her Bachelors of Science in International Studies from Point Loma Nazarene University. Through her formal education, Bethany has explored the characteristics of a successful school and community garden in San Diego, and San Francisco. She developed the conviction that experiential learning (and sometimes rolling up our sleeves and getting dirty) acts as the best medium for cultivating genuine engagement and intellectual growth when she established a school garden at an elementary school. She is passionate in supporting teachers with the implementation of Universal Design for Learning and is relentless about developing best practices for her field. She is a major proponent for the Zones of Regulation and Social Thinking programs. Bethany believes that fostering student self-advocacy is essential for transformative educational growth.
She is passionate about literacy for all students! With an added Reading Interventionist credential she has experience with several evidenced based literacy programs, and has seen great success. She is also getting her Administrative Credential to learn more about leadership. Ask her about what book she is reading- as one of them is definitely about working with teams.
Outside of LMEC, Bethany is finding the perfect cup of coffee, collecting podcasts, practicing yoga, playing a card game with her partner, camping, working on home improvement projects, or playing with her two dogs.
