To be considered for admission to a University of California campus, such as UC San Diego, students must complete 22 full term high school courses with a grade of "C" or higher. At least 16 of the 22 courses must be completed prior to the start of a student's senior year.
Keep in mind that taking approved high school ("A-G") courses isn't the only way to satisfy these requirements. You also may meet them by completing college courses or earning certain scores on SAT, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate exams. To read more, visit the University of California website - HERE.
For California State University schools, such as San Diego State University, the "A-G" courses are also a requirement. The California State University's website can help you to chart a path to one of its schools. Read more.
Doing well in "A-G" courses will also help you in community colleges, professional schools, and wherever your after-high-school life will take you. They provide an excellent foundation for future learning. For more information on these courses, see your counselor.
