PRIMARY/PRIMARIA - Report an Absence/Reportando Ausencias
SECONDARY/SECUNDARIA - Report an Absence/Reportando Ausencias

**Absences MUST BE REPORTED within 10 business days from when the student missed school, using the form above. Please allow an additional 72 hours for the attendance code to be updated in PowerSchool.**

Parents can check if an absence was reported and coded appropriately using the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If a student was marked absent by mistake they should contact their teacher. After a review of their records the teacher can submit a change request. For additional information about the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal, visit the SDUSD PowerSchool Support Webpage. 

Excused Absences

• Illness (absences due to illness for three or more consecutive days require a note from your doctor to be excused)
• Medical or dental appointments
• Death in the family
• Court appointments
• College visits
• Extreme family emergency. Please be specific.

Unexcused Absences

• Transportation problems
• Oversleeping
• Family activities out of town (vacations or trips)
• Personal matters

Blue Slips (Early Release)

Blue Slips are used when releasing a student early from school on any given day. Please keep in mind, no student can be released from their classes, using a Blue Slip, during the last 15 minutes of the school day.
